Life is a little Extra at the moment (think boy crazy crap and meeting with the principal, & Curly has three games three nights in a row), so I decided to rifle through my drafts and allow myself an early bedtime. I've also been waking up dizzy for about a week. It eventually subsides, but mornings are rough. Dizziness and babies, well, they don't mix well. So, please enjoy this post from the spring about me being punked twice in one week. It made me chuckle when I stumbled on it.
1. I was putting Lily down for a nap. (she's the baby I had last year who fell asleep standing up, remember? Because she learned to stand in her pack and play, but wasn't sure how to get back down). Did the pacifier drop on the floor when I pulled her sleep sack out of her bed? I put the best 14 month old in the universe in her bed while I searched the floor. I was looking everywhere. I keep a bin of stuff to donate in my room near her portable crib. Did it flip in there? After a few minutes, I looked up. There was Lily. Standing up, holding onto the edge of her bed. Looking down at me, as if to say.SO WHAT 'CHA LOOKING FOR?
Her pacifier was in her mouth.
Maybe you had to be there, but it was a hoot.

| Dizzy or not, I walked today and it was COLD and crazy windy, but it wasn't raining and I only had three littles. |
Then I realized that he was NOT eating the cake I'd just baked. He was eating the last piece of the Easter bunny cake, leftover from Easter.
Reg (while eating) watched me double over laughing for a few minutes. People, I cackled so much that Curly called from the other room, "What? WHAT?!"
I felt like Johnny Carson when he has the guest show up with a special collection of potato chips. Johnny takes a chip from under his desk and takes a bite of it, and she thinks he's eaten part of her collection.
Reg: Mom! You didn't think . . . I would never!
Me (wiping my tears from laughing): Yes, yes you sure would. But I'm glad you didn't.

How about you - feeling punked lately? Is life in your world a little extra at the moment? I'm NOT tailgating this weekend, so there's a chance to get caught up on other stuff.

I mean, I totally thought he ate your cake so I would have been punked too! Life is fairly calm for me right now, but I'm not looking forward to the holiday rush.
ReplyDeleteBijoux - I had completely forgotten that this happened, but when I read it - well, it all came back to me. My breath caught when I saw him eating cake. Chocolate no less. Bah ha. Hooray for a calm stretch. I'm dreading the purchasing part of Christmas and I'm wondering if we can plan a family trip somewhere in lieu of gifts this year? I'm mulling it over. Coach never buys a single thing, so he won't have any issue with it - but traveling with our whole gang is a logistical nightmare. Curly will have a b-ball tournie over break too.
DeleteI would have thought Reg ate the cake, too!
ReplyDeleteLife is very extra extra right now. and one of the German student I'm hosting got strep, and she's missed 4 days of school. I can't do much but provide warm blankets and internet. Need to get her healthy for the trip home.
mbmom11 - It was one of those 'timing is everything' moments. So funny.
DeleteEek, bummer about the exchange student getting sick. I hope no one else gets it.
Waking up dizzy doesn't sound nice. I hope you feel better soon. Cute story and cute baby photo!
ReplyDeletemichelle- It's not fun, but it wasn't a problem so much last two nights. I went to bed earlier Thursday night and I had a bowl of cereal before bed. I think it's from a need for more sleep (why do I need more than 8 hours though), or my GI stuff. Too much Miralax?
DeleteThank you. I have thousands of baby photos of Curly. Bah ha ha.
Not feeling punked, just overwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteOctober has been super busy, I'm looking forward to Saturday, Nov. 1st when I can finally have a no-special-plans Saturday to get stuff done. Like a deep clean of the house and a stock-up grocery trip. And a chance to sleep in! Every weekend in October has been busy with something, and while I am/was excited for the various activities, I really need some downtime.
Hope your life feels less frazzled soon too!
Jenny in WV - I hear you. I hope you enjoy the serenity that it sounds like November will bring to you. Funny, when I have free time deep cleaning the house is the last thing I think of doing.
DeleteHoly crap, I'd have gone through the floor seeing him eat cake.
ReplyDeleteDizzy in the mornings? Are you sleeping with your mouth open and dehydrating? Or sleeping with your face in the pillow and not getting enough oxygen in the night? (I'm not a doctor, but I play one in Comments.)
October has been, quite frankly, a nightmare here. Let's just say that.
Nance - It was a moment, let me tell you. But also, if I'd not written it in that post, I would've forgotten it entirely.
DeleteI'm not dehydrated - I drink water all night long. I'm not sleeping with my face in the pillow either, because I can't sleep on my belly right now. I think it might be caused by Miralax - it cleans me out, and sometimes I think it does its job too well. I hate a bowl of cereal before bed the other night and I woke up not dizzy.
Sorry that October is giving you the business.
I also play doctor in the comments. My husband a while back woke up dizzy and was low-key dizzy all day. The next day -same- so he went to the Doctor who sent him to a physical therapist who had some exercises for him to do and the dizziness went away. It happened again, my husband did the exercises and it fixed it again. So maybe check with Coach?? ( This is Dulcie)
ReplyDeleteDulcie - I know the kind of issue that you are referring to. It's definitely not that. I think it has more to do with my GI issues, because I notice there's a correlation with my pipes and when the dizziness fades.
DeleteI hope your dizziness goes away soon. That's not fun at all. 💜
ReplyDeleteOur life has been a little extra. Lots of little things.
Kari - Thank you, It's been better the last two nights. I'm hoping it's over with, but I also ate a ton before I went to bed the last few nights (well I ate a ton at book club last night and I had a bowl of cereal the night before that). Those little things are sneaky buggers. They add up.
DeleteOh I most certainly would have thought he was eating my freshly made cake! And I am very prone to misplacing things and am often running around looking in the most bizarre places. Now I have learned to say, "Phil have you seen my keys?" 90% of the time he will find them faster than I will. I also have a tile on my keys that I could page if need be but I try not to do it because the sound is so annoying.
ReplyDeleteLisa - Ha. I know, I know! I had completely forgotten that we still had Easter cake. It was such a funny coincidence. Timing, right?
DeleteWe have air tags on all of our key chains, and guess what? An air tag fell off the GW set that had the clicker on it and that key worked well in the ignition and as soon as the air tag was removed - the damn keys were left at the golf course after Reg caddied and were never located. It's ridiculous. The remaining key doesn't turn well in the ignition. Honestly.
Those are both hilarious situations, and I, too, would have cackled like that!
ReplyDeleteCute pics, for sure.
Do you think you might have vertigo? It's often worse in the morning, just after waking up. It can be caused by an inner ear thing. (Or nothing at all, for Suzanne) I hope you're not FALLING down on the job; girl, your life is always Extra.
~Suz
Suz - When baby lily was watching me, well I was like Dang girl, too bad you can't go home and relay this story to your family, because it's a hoot. The cake! Reg will eat anything, and I totally believed he'd eaten that cake. It was hilarious.
DeleteI don't think I have Vertigo. Shit. I hope not. I do think it's tied to my GI stuff. Without being graphic, I've begun to notice when it fades. My pipes are really not happy - empty/full - whatever the situation. I've been eating before bed (something I tried to STOP doing because who needs to eat at bedtime?) and those nights lead to less dizziness in the morning. Stupid Miralax. It's not sustainable.
I’m so sorry about the dizziness, that is no fun at all. I hope it resolves soon. Great stories and such a cute pic of Curly. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeletePat - Thank you. It's hard to pick a good picture of Curly, since I took hundreds of them - each week. Ha. the last few mornings have been better. I feel like it is related to the timing of Miralax and how much I eat and when I eat. I think my body needs more food before bed.
DeleteLOL about the cake and the pacifier. Was the binky in her mouth the entire time? Or did she have it tucked somewhere? Funny either way.
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry about the dizziness, too. I had some balance issues a few years ago that lasted for months, and it was very disconcerting. I ended up getting a ton of tests done to rule out scary things, and what helped was physical therapy. It still comes back once in a while, but not as bad as it was.
Julie - The pacifier must've been inside her sleep sack, so she found it after I put her in the sleep sack and then I continued to look for it.
DeleteI feel like the dizziness has subsided. I wonder if it was connected to my slight congestion. Weird because I've had colds that were so much worse. I also slept a ton over the weekend.
I would have thought he was eating your cake too! Whew! And Lilly with her pacifier?! What in the world? They are keeping you on your toes! :)
ReplyDeleteCindy - It was such interesting timing. So funny. Yep, there is never a dull moment over here.
